Americus (GA) Alumni chapter

A Legacy of Leadership & Community Impact
Our Founding
The Americus(GA) Alumni Chapter, formally known as the Americus-Sumter(GA) Alumni Chapter, of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on July 7, 2017, in Americus, Georgia, by a distinguished group of brothers committed to advancing mentorship, leadership, and community service. The chapter was established by Kevin T. Brown (Polemarch), Darrell D. Sabbs, Jr. (Vice Polemarch), Lorenzo Johnson (Keeper of Records), and Kimothy B. Hadley (Keeper of Exchequer).
One of the key figures in shaping the chapter was Frank Thomas, Jr., a Fall 1986 initiate of the Lambda Psi Chapter at Georgia Southwestern State University. In the absence of an alumni chapter, Brother Thomas stepped in as an advisor to the undergraduate chapter, uniting Kappa men from various backgrounds and strengthening the fraternity’s presence in the community. His leadership paved the way for what is now a thriving alumni chapter dedicated to service and mentorship.

Other prominent charter members at the Chapter’s beginnings are:
Bro. Jimmy L. Green, Bro. Rev. Frederick Sherrod, Bro. Dexter Cutts, Bro. Gregory Wideman, Bro. Dr. Eric L. Holland, Bro. Demaris K. Battle, Bro. Sedrick A. Swan, Bro. Marlin K. Foster, Bro. Spencer Jolly, and Bro. Justin D. Edge.
Our Mission & Purpose

From its inception, the Americus(GA) Alumni Chapter was created with a dual purpose:
-
To mentor and supervise the undergraduate chapter, Lambda Psi, at Georgia Southwestern State University.

2. To serve as role models, mentors, and leaders in the community to guide and inspire the next generation.
Through programs like Guide Right, Kappa League, and civic engagement initiatives, our chapter has remained steadfast in its commitment to shaping young men into future leaders and improving the Americus community.

Growth & Community Impact
Over the years, our chapter has established itself as a pillar of leadership, mentorship, and community service. From Back-to-School Drives to Civic Awareness Programs, we have led initiatives that directly impact Americus youth. Our annual Black-and-White Ball, Founders Day Celebration, and Kappa League Beautillion serve as cornerstone events that allow us to celebrate excellence and give back to our community.
Additionally, we remain committed to working closely with our undergraduate brothers at Lambda Psi, ensuring that they receive the guidance, support, and leadership training needed to continue the fraternity’s mission of achievement in every field of human endeavor.
